DeepSeek has made a striking entrance and is expected to accelerate the adoption of edge AI. At the same time, software value-added services are further fueling a wave of hardware upgrades. Industrial computer manufacturers, including Advantech, Ennoconn, Neousys, AAEON, and Nexcom, are poised to be among the key beneficiaries of edge AI integration.

 

China-based AI company DeepSeek has rapidly gained international attention with its exceptional performance, open-source nature, and cost advantages. Its fully open-source model facilitates ecosystem expansion and boosts market share. Industry analysts widely expect DeepSeek to reshape the competitive landscape of large language models (LLMs).

 

In recent years, the industrial computer sector has steadily expanded its edge AI applications, with system integrators (SIs) also showing growing demand for edge AI solutions.

 

Industry leader Advantech anticipates a golden era for edge computing and AI technologies across various industries. As a result, the company has strategically focused on five key markets: edge intelligence systems, smart manufacturing, energy and utilities, smart healthcare, and smart retail and services. The contribution of edge AI to their overall revenue is expected to experience significant growth.

 

Ennoconn is actively building an edge AI ecosystem, partnering with MediaTek, ARBOR, and its subsidiary CASwell to develop a comprehensive industry supply chain. Edge AI applications will be integrated into areas such as machine vision, digital transformation, and ESG initiatives. With an order backlog exceeding NT$160 billion (US$4.88 billion), market analysts anticipate that Ennoconn’s annual revenue and profits could reach new highs as the benefits of integration materialize and new products are launched.

 

AAEON is seeing the benefits of edge AI projects that have progressively entered the implementation phase this year. Over 100 projects are expected to move into large-scale deployment, with volume ramping up in the second quarter, driving significant business growth. Among these, smart retail and smart transportation are experiencing the fastest growth, while the progress of other applications will depend on validation results and customer demand.

 

Neousys saw strong orders and shipments for edge AI projects last year, driving its annual revenue to NT$1.445 billion (US$44.10 million), a 37.02% year-over-year increase and a new record high. Looking ahead, the company expects edge AI applications to rapidly expand across various end-user industries, sparking a wave of hardware upgrades. Demand is emerging in sectors such as chain restaurants, smart cities, and AGVs. Currently, over 70% of its projects are related to edge AI, signaling a positive long-term growth outlook.

 

Nexcom is focusing on robotic safety control and has partnered with Kneron to integrate NPUs, with collaboration benefits expected to materialize this year. Nexcom Chairman Clement Lin is optimistic that as AIoT and edge computing solutions—combining both software and hardware—gradually roll out, they will drive the growth of the AI value chain and contribute to the flourishing of Taiwan's AI ecosystem.
