POS system solution provider Flytech has achieved another milestone in its expansion into AI software applications for the food and beverage industry. Its subsidiary, Berry AI, has secured a contract with Zaxby’s, a well-known fast-food fried chicken chain in the U.S. The AI-driven video timing system developed by Berry AI is set to be deployed across the drive-thru operations of Zaxby’s 970 locations nationwide.
Flytech noted that Berry AI focuses on applying AI-powered image recognition technology within the quick-service restaurant industry. By utilizing camera systems to monitor and capture key operational metrics, the solution delivers real-time data analysis and decision-making support—enabling fast-food brands to identify process bottlenecks, enhance on-site operational efficiency, and improve overall customer satisfaction.
Berry AI CEO Eric Lam stated that the AI image recognition system can deliver real-time, on-site insights and actionable recommendations, helping staff quickly identify bottlenecks and focus on more critical tasks—ultimately streamlining overall operations. The technology has also received highly positive feedback from fast-food restaurant teams.
Since 2024, Berry AI has formed partnerships with several U.S. fast-food chains. In March, the company officially partnered with Zaxby’s to implement its AI technology in modernizing drive-thru operations, representing a significant advancement in the brand’s digital transformation and revenue growth.
Berry AI’s AI-powered video timing system uses cameras to monitor key operational metrics in real time, such as service speed and customer flow. This enables restaurants to stay informed about on-site dynamics and make timely decisions. The system is also designed with a strong focus on customer privacy, capturing only anonymized operational data to ensure both data security and the protection of customer rights.
Zaxby’s Chief Operating Officer, Sharlene Smith, stated that as drive-thru operations continue to grow and the brand progresses toward future development, partnering with Berry AI to introduce AI-based recognition and timing technology—compared to traditional loop timers—will help each store to manage operational flow more efficiently and consistently enhance the overall drive-thru customer experience.
Sharlene further emphasized that the introduction of AI image recognition technology through the partnership with Berry AI not only marks a pivotal starting point for Zaxby’s digital transformation, but also establishes a strong foundation for visualized operations. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand the use of AI-powered cameras in additional visual tasks to assist employees and deliver higher-quality, more personalized customer service.
