Embedded motherboard and industrial computer manufacturer DFI showcased its next-generation edge computing systems at COMPUTEX 2025, offering versatility and flexibility in one package. The comprehensive lineup - including embedded motherboards, systems, and edge servers - is designed to meet the varied demands of different application environments, from performance and power efficiency to scalability. In short, DFI aims to cover all the bases for edge computing.
The showcase integrates group resources by combining computing power and software capabilities, with a focus on two key solutions: smart parking and drones. It highlights the practical benefits of deploying edge AI technology in real-world scenarios. In addition, DFI has joined forces with global AI chipmakers and intelligent imaging platform partners to introduce AI solutions that support remote deployment, cross-platform integration, and real-time inference, helping accelerate AI adoption and boost operational efficiency.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global carbon emissions reached 37.8 billion metric tons in 2024, with atmospheric CO₂ levels rising by about 3 ppm compared to 2023 - roughly 50% higher than pre-industrial levels. As AI adoption continues to surge, edge intelligence, which enables models to run locally on devices, helps cut down on cloud data transmission and carbon emissions, positioning it as a key enabler of green AI.
Per IDC’s estimation, global enterprise spending on edge computing solutions is set to reach nearly USD 261 billion in 2025, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.8% through 2028. This surge reflects the increasing demand for high-performance computing and underscores the sustainable value of edge AI. With edge AI at its core, DFI leverages high-performance low-power platforms and modular designs to help enterprises optimize energy consumption and maintenance costs, extend equipment lifespan and boost operational efficiency, proving that technology can truly drive carbon reduction.
DFI has teamed up with Data Image, a display solution provider, and Singapore-based WEILONG, a smart parking specialist, to launch the IAE Smart Parking Solution. This integrated system combines rugged displays, high-performance computing, and AI technologies—focusing on innovation, automation, and efficiency to improve real-time responsiveness and management. In drone applications, DFI is working with Qisda’s drone team to integrate Qualcomm processors and OSM modules, delivering compact, scalable, low-latency, and energy-efficient AI computing. The solution supports both 5G and Wi-Fi 6, making it well-suited for drone operations in remote, long-range, or harsh environments.
Furthermore, DFI is forming strategic partnerships with South Korean AI chipmaker DEEPX and U.S.-based intelligent imaging platform Network Optix (Nx) to promote an automated workflow for deploying AI models from cloud development to edge devices. With a graphical user interface, users can quickly build AI processing pipelines, enabling remote deployment and cross-device integration. By combining DEEPX’s low-power M.2 AI chips with DFI’s high-performance industrial-grade systems, the solution offers a compact, high-performance, and scalable computing platform. Applications span smart cities, intelligent surveillance, unmanned inspections, automated management, and retail behavior analytics—demonstrating the core value of edge AI in flexible scalability and sustainable operations.
